The Personal Computer Group Operation of Hewlett Packard is a newly formed organization to develop strategies and products for HP's next generation personal computers. We are centrally located in Palo Alto, Ca. near Stanford University. We have job openings for software managers and engineers in the following areas: Project Manager - Operating System Kernel BSCS/EE or MSCS/EE with 5 years of experience in the area of operating system development. Responsibilities include management of a small group of software engineers, technical leadership in product definition, system design and implementation, and interfacing with other related projects. Candidates should have proven management skills. Knowledge of the UNIX[1] internals is highly desirable. Software Development Engineers - Operating system BSCS/EE or MSCS/EE with minimum 2 years of experience in the area of operating system development. Responsibilities include specification, design and implementation of an operating system for the next generation personal computers. Candidates should have a good background in the UNIX operating system. Knowledge of the UNIX operating system and/or MS-DOS[2] internals is highly desirable. Project Manager - Communication Software BSCS/EE or MSCS/EE with 5 years of experience in the area of communication software development. Reponsibilities include management of a small group of software engineers, technical leadership in product definition, system design and implementation, and interfacing with other related projects. Candidates should have proven management skills. Knowledge of standard network protocols and the UNIX operating system internals is highly disirable. Software Development Engineers - Communication Software BSCS/EE or MSCS/EE with 2 years of experience in the area of communication software development. Responsiblilities include specification, design, and implementation of the communication software for the next generation personal computers. Candidates should have good background in the UNIX operating system, C language, and network protocols. Knowledge of Berkeley 4.2 bsd networking software is highly desirable.
