[comp.mail.elm] Sending mail to a file

marwood@ncs.dnd.ca (Gordon Marwood) (04/09/90)

When I _send_ a mail message with elm, I would like to be able to save it
to Mail/person_named_folder and, when necessary, to a common reference
file (This is for mail from which I wish to generate a hard-copy for the
"official record"). In Berkeley mail, it is possible to add to the
address line a file name such as ./saved.msg. This does not seem to
work with elm. The only way that I have found to do this is to change
to the person_named_folder and copy to the "official record" file.
Maybe I have missed something, but is there an easier way of doing this ?

Elm does not support files as named addresses itself, but if you MTA
does, the you could do it. All Elm does is pass the address list off to
the MTA.
