[comp.mail.elm] Yet another wanna

lauther@janus.Berkeley.EDU (Ulrich Lauther) (06/07/90)

1. In readmsg a specific message can be specified by number, i.e. by
position in the specified folder.
If the usual ordering scheme for displaying messages is other than
mailbox-order, the interpretation of numbers given to readmsg is
counterintuitive. It would be much better, if readmsg would take a look at
the elmrc file and behave accordingly.

2. Sometimes, one would like to change elmrc-options - just for a specific
application; this could conveniently be embedded in specific shell
scripts, aliases or -functions, if these options could be specified either
by additional command-line flags or by environment variables. Of course, a
shell script could change the elmrc-file prior to calling elm and reset the
old values afterwards; but that seems kind of clumsy.
