Even though this question is regarding nn, the subject is mail and I had a similar problem with ELM (I think). The problem is I can not send mail from within nn via the MAIL command. I have nn configured to use a "recmail" program which is in /usr/lib/news. Now for the facts: 1. Attempting to send mail from within nn yields a news "dead.letter" file in $HOME. This is all being done from my user login. 2. The same above action when logged in as "root" works fine. The mail is delivered. 3. Additionally, while logged in under my user account, I can cd /usr/lib/news and run recmail manually ( i.e. % recmail < stuff.msg ). This works fine. The stuff.msg file is delivered. My system is SCO UNIX SYSV R3.2. The mail transport agent is MMDF. I activated the most verbose version of logging for MMDF. Either I did this incorrectly or I am getting no meaningful feed back from the logs. I vaguely remember a similar problem with ELM 2.2 . I had configured ELM to run setgid. Upon changing this everything worked fine. Any ideas ??? -- Dr. Victor L. Rice Litwin Process Automation

MMDF is way overkill for anyone but an internet site. I suggest you install smail instead... it's much easier to configure. -- Peter da Silva. `-_-' +1 713 274 5180. <peter@ficc.ferranti.com>
