I was curious why the alias.hash file is so much larger than the actual alias.text file? Is the speed gained by hashing so much faster?

Its not the hashing speed thats so much faster as the fact that that file is just a dump of the incore table. Its size is set by the size of the incore table used and that is set by the Configure script at compile time. -- ===================================================================== Sydney S.
