[comp.mail.elm] Reply Problem using Elm 2.3 PL6

boerio@orchestra.ecn.purdue.edu (Jeff Boerio) (09/16/90)

As the subject suggests, I am running Elm 2.3 PL6, and I am having a
problem with the Reply command. I am running Elm on Sun networks (Sun3 and
Sun4).

Internally, across our network, we have a database that sets up
everyone's 'home' machine. What this means is that no matter what machines
I have accoutns on, my mail is guaranteed to go to one. So, inside our
network, if I want to send mail to user@machine1, I need only enter 'user'
as the recipient, even though I am on my home machine, machine2.

There is a problem when I try to reply to a message received from 'user'
(that's what appears in the "From" field). When I, on machine2, try to
reply to this mail from 'user', Elm generates a reply address of
'user@machine2'. Elm shouldn't do this ... it appears to be generating its
own outbound address.

I've tried various Configure options, but none seem to be working. Can
anyone give me some help? Thanks in advance!
