Senior Software Engineer - Unix internals - Long Island, NY
State University of New York at Stony Brook.
At least 1 year of experience in Unix internals and
design/implementation of software written in C running on
the Unix operating system. Additional experience with Pro-
log, Modula-2, database, and/or networking will weigh
heavily in the candidates favor.
To assist in research/development of an NSF sponsored
data oriented network operating system. The system will
initially run on a supermini class machine, and then on an
Ethernet based network of > 64 workstations and > 10 mid-
size computers. Reviewers have stated "Strinkingly good
theme going in the right direction with software engineer-
ing and quite appropriate response to 5th generation chal-
lenge (only such CER)."
MS or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. Minimum 1 year of
experience in Unix internals or Unix related software
development.
$36K - $42K, commensurate with experience.
Stony Brook is located on the north shore of Long
Island, 50 miles east of New York City. The surrounding
area has many harbors and picturesque villages dating back
to the middle 1600s. While the area is semi-rural, a pat-
tern of four and six-lane highways and the Long Island
Rail Road connect Stony Brook to New York City with its
cultural, scientific and industrial resources. The
University is only a few minutes south of the beaches of
Long Island Sound and approximately 15 miles north of the
Atlantic Ocean.
