Software Engineer
Wang Institute of Graduate Studies
The Wang Institute of Graduate Studies is dedicated to academic
excellence and innovation in Software Engineering education. A
Master of Software Engineering degree is currently offered and
special emphasis is placed on technology transfer between industry
and academic areas. To support this mission, the Institute's
computer center manages diverse hardware and software for a limited
number of users. For example, the Institute has VAX-11/780,
VAX-11/750, Apollo, Prime, and Wang systems with software
engineering tools such as Ada, AFFIRM, CLU, Ingres, PSL, and
Interlisp.
We are looking for a software engineer to join the faculty's
technical staff. The technical staff cooperates with the faculty
to ensure that the Institute's set of software engineering tools,
related documentation, and training, is sufficient to meet the
Institute's educational and research goals. This individual must
be able to:
- Evaluate state-of-the-art software tools
- Develop expertise in a variety of software tools
- Write and edit tutorials about software tools
- Prepare and present lectures, demonstrations, and
workshops about software tools
- Assist the faculty with the use of tools, and the
preparation of related examples and problems
Applicants for this position should have:
- Excellent communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Experience with software tools
- A Master of Software Engineering degree, or equivalent
- 4 to 8 years of software development experience
