Computer Systems Designer University of California at Berkeley Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Department ============================================================ We have an opening for a leadership position in the continued development of the fastest-growing and most dynamic Computer Science department in the country. The Computer Systems Designer serves as a major techni- cal resource for a large 4.2BSD UNIX installation. This person will work on a wide variety of challenging problems, supervising a staff of 25 which configures, maintains, and augments a collection of networked mainframes and worksta- tions in the department. This person will oversee the operation of about 40 DEC VAX systems, 60 or more high- performance workstations (almost all running UNIX). We expect this person to supervise and work closely with research and support staff, and advise management on software and systems technical areas. The successful candi- date must demonstrate UNIX programming expertise and broad experience with typical UNIX hardware, and excellent manage- ment and communication skills.
