There exist openings within Tektronix for Software Engineers to perform the following tasks: Participate in the Tektronix UNIX development team which will develop the Tektronix standard UNIX O/S. Perform system generations, driiver development, and evaluations of various versions of UNIX under development at Tektronix. Individuals will be required to take responsibility of multiple computing systems. Individuals will be responsible for original development of device drivers, utilities, and extensions to the UNIX kernel. Engineers will be responsible for participating in a team oriented bug-tracking system. Become a member of a team effort to develop a true distributed UNIX O/S environment where resources are shared between multiple cpu's. This includes development of drivers for DEC's HSC-50 and CI cluster devices. Requirements for these individuals are as follows: In-depth knowledge of UNIX internals, ie; kernel, utilities, commands, and tools. We're looking for individuals with exposure to the UNIX source code. Actual experience altering the internals is not a requirement. In-depth knowledge of the "C" programming language. Must be a self motivator. Must have excellant interpersonal communications skills. Previous project experience in a UNIX environment preferable. Must have in-depth knowledge of VAX and/or PDP-11 architectures and familiarity with related peripherals. These positions are multi-level, ie; we need experience at all levels. Tektronix is located in the beautiful Willamette Valley area in northern Oregon just outside of Portland. We are 80 miles from the Pacific ocean and 60 miles from the Cascade mountain range. This means it is no more than an hour's drive to the coast or to the ski areas. We have no set working hours and no dress code at Tektronix. You are hired to get the job done.
