Two interrelated personal computer (PC) based systems will be developed: a master/teacher system to be used in training by a speech/language pathologist: and a student's system to be used in the deaf child's home. Engineering work shall include design and implementation of system for vocalization recognition and analysis; interfacing front-end analyzers to the PC's; developing displays of acoustic and physiologic measurements. Candidates should have experience with hardware design and microprocessors. Some knowledge of software is also required. An interest in speech processing systems is considered a plus.
