[net.jobs] summer job for grad student

The Computer Systems group at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos,
New Mexico would like to employ a computer science graduate student for this
summer.  The student will need a clearance; to get a clearance by June 1
a student must be a U.S. citizen and a completed application must be
mailed by the end of September.

The job description is:  (more or less)
half time: reformat packet and increase packet size for the packets
	   that worker machines (OSs are CTSS for Crays, NOS for CDCs,
	   UNIX for VAX 780s) send to a statistics
	   collection machine(VAX 780 with VMS and Ingres)

half time: some research project -
	    1. student may already have an idea
	    2. OS questions for a distributed functional language implementation
	    3. modeling some future parallel architecture
	    4. experiments with a parallel architecture (16 or so processors)

Salary per month last summer was:

  1 yr  grad school   1730
  2 yrs grad school   1815
  3 yrs grad school   1910

I expect this summer there will be a slight increase.

Roundtrip travel expenses are reimbursed.

Housing is provided (2 students or a couple per efficiency)
at a cost of $135 per person per month.
Housing is about 2 miles from the Computer Center so bicycling is reasonable.
A large grocery store is a block away from the housing.
