When using newmail on our Multimax under UMAX 4.2, and then logging out, it seems the newmail process is not killed. It just sticks around, until someone kills it. I ended up with 5 newmail processes running before I found out. Anyone know why this is happening?? I know it doesn't happen under BSD 4.3 or Dynix 2.1.2... -- =================================================================== Brian O'Neill - Wang Institute of Boston University, Tyngsboro, MA UUCP: {decvax,elrond,ulowell}!bu-tyng!oneill - oneill@bu-tyng.UUCP Soon: Internet: oneill@bu-tyng.bu.edu (617) 649-9731 x14

I can't figure out why newmail doesn't work. I'm on a Sun4, I use c shell (in which I have set "notify"), newmail runs happily after I start it (its there when I look at jobs that are running) but completely ignores the arrival of any new mail! I ran newmail with the debug on and it's only message was that it was starting and checking my mail spool file, after that not a peep out of it. Does anyone have an idea (based on this admittedly meager info) what might be wrong, I can't think of what I should even start to look at or check into. -- Dana E.
