I'm playing with a HP machine running HPUX. It has ELM built in to it. One feature that I think is very nice is that the mouse interface is built in. In other words there are mouse options to read mail , send mail and the other normal ELM options. This is VERY NICE !!! By doing a elm -v ..... The version is 64.9 . Is this something that was added by the manufacturer of the machine or something that came via ELM ? It kinda looks like a Xelm or something? Just curious. Are there any plans for a Xelm in the future. Thanks in advance. Bob Shaw Texas Instruments Dallas , Texas bshaw@hcvdl.vdl.ti.com

That is the HP version of Elm, not to be confused with the USENET version of Elm, (Confused yet?) Back about 2.0 there was a split in Elm, HP went one way and two years later came up with 64.x which is released with HP-UX 7.0. This version is HP specific and has very similar features (and bugs) to 2.0. USENET went another direction and has come up with 2.3 and eventually 2.4. We have different features, start up files, alias databases and intended markets. The Mouse front end to HP-Elm is done in a very similar fashion to sun's mailtool, its a remapping of the characters with mouse pushes just translated into key sequences. The same can be done for USENET elm. >Are there any plans for a Xelm in the future. Yup, USENET Elm is planning for a Xelm in its 3.0 release, and when is that, who knows, we depend on volunteers. -- ===================================================================== Sydney S.
