The systems support staff at the University of California, Berkeley
computer center is seeking a senior programmer to maintain UNIX
systems software and associated products on VAX and PDP computers.
The campus computer center provides support of a large network of
UNIX machines used for academic research and instructional programs.

Job duties include:

	Maintenance of production UNIX software;

	Analysis of the causes of system crashes by debugging post-mortem
	core dumps or by other means;

	Modification of systems code to implement fixes - document changes and
	install new versions;

	Providing on-call maintenance of production systems including
	filesystem repair and diagnosis of hardware failures.

Substantial experience with UNIX including 2 years programming
in C required. Familiarity with the UNIX kernel desireable.

Salary range $32.9K-$39.8K.
