[comp.mail.elm] Using filters under MMDF

Is there a way to use the Elm filter program successfully under the MMDF
MDA?  In my elm filter guide, Ver. 2.3, dated May 1, 90, it says that the
filter stuff will only work under sendmail using the individual accounts'
.forward files.

Any/all help appreciated.  Either mailed or posted replies are fine.
