[comp.mail.elm] m)ail - file permission problem with SCO UNIX submit

raney@horton.colorado.edu (Scott Raney) (05/19/91)

When I try to send mail with elm from a non-root account I get the error:

Command: submit: [ Permission denied ] Can't create text file to be queued.
submit: message submission aborted

Receiving mail works fine, as does sending mail from the root account.
SCO's documentation on submit is pretty cryptic, and is no help in
this case. What file (and in what directory) is submit trying to
create? I compiled elm 2.3 in /usr/local/elm with gcc (using the root
account) and installed it in the default location. The rest of the
program seems OK. Anyone seen this?

   Thanks,
     Scott

PS Anyone else using elm under SCO UNIX 3.2.2? What is the proper
response to the Configure prompts for the pathalias file, the
uumail-style 'domains' file, the man page formatter, the man page
location and "should Elm resolve outbound addresses"?
