Silicon Compilers Inc. is the leading company in the development of Design Automation tools for industrial quality VLSI design. We are a fast growing company with a solid technical and financial position. At the moment we have a number of openings in various areas as follows: Software Engineer, Block Compilers System/Logic Designer, Custom Chips CMOS Circuit Design Engineer CMOS Mask Designer/Contractor Accounts Payable Clerk Senior Simulation Software Engineer Applications Engineer Technical Applications Consultant These positions are described in more detail below. We are only interested in the highest quality applicants. Salaries are competitive. Please respond by email, phone, or U.S. mail to: Steve Johnson, V.P. Product Development 2045 Hamilton Avenue San Jose, CA 95125 (408)371-2900 uucp: {decwrl, sun, turtlevax}!sci!steve In your response, please indicate that your information comes from this posting. In all programming positions, experience with C and UNIX is helpful. SOFTWARE ENGINEER, BLOCK COMPILERS: This person will be fully responsible for all software required to implement a block compiler for one or more blocks. The engineer will work closely with one to three other engineers who are responsible for other aspects of the block. A good applicant would have experience with design automation software, compilers, simulators, and electronic hardware design. Since a silicon compiler is an "expert" system which through software synthesizes IC Layouts and Simulation models, and since such software must contain the encapsulated expertise of the industry's best IC Designers, the IDEAL applicant would be an astute, experienced logic designer with actual IC Design experience, who is equally good at designing and implementing PRODUCTION software. Five years of experience is desired. Applicants with two or more years of experience will be considered if they have outstanding qualifications. B.S. degree or better is required. SYSTEM/LOGIC DESIGNER, CUSTOM CHIPS: The custom chip design group has an opening for an experienced system/logic designer to work on a CPU design project. Previous chip design background is not a requirement; our state-of-the-art design tools take care of the low level MOS design issues. However, substantial expertise in system-level logic design is a must. This person should be self-motivated and able to work on a one-man project. We are looking for someone with latent management capabilities for future growth within the company. CMOS CIRCUIT DESIGN ENGINEER: The candidate will be designing high performance, high density, state of art CMOS logic and memory circuits for a broad spectrum of applications. Familiar with CMOS specific-design issues such as latch-up problem and prevention, two metal wiring system, and sensitivities of circuit behavior due to different well structures, is essential. Emphasis is placed at functional block and module design in the context of silicon compilation. The candidate should be thoroughly familiar with IC design and verification process, have insight into the algorithmic generation of layouts and models, understand the goals of silicon compilation, and able to interact with mask designers and programmers effectively. Minimum of 3 years of experience is required. CMOS MASK DESIGNER/CONTRACTOR: A number of positions are available for senior mask designer/contractor to help circuit design engineers perform layout entry. The candidate should have a BS degree in related field and a minimum of five years of experience. For mask design contractor, the length of contract and work hours will be negotiated on an individual basis. ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK: Immediate opening for energetic Accounts Payable Clerk in and expanding finance department. Responsibilities include invoice processing, tracking cash receipts and disbursements, and month-end journal entry preparation. The ideal candidate would have one or more years of experience and a general understanding of a corporate reporting structure. Excellent salary and benefits package. Direct inquiries to Ed Abate at the above address (usenet: sci!eda). SENIOR SIMULATION SOFTWARE ENGINEER: to work on a state of the art functional simulator. Must have 5-7 years experience or advanced degree, with 3-4 years experience in simulation software. Must be able to work on all aspects of a simulator from the front end to the engine. System design experience or fault simulation experience desirable. APPLICATIONS ENGINEER: Technical position with significant amount of customer contact. Help users work with CAD tools for custom chip design; some travel required. Write App notes explaining new product features. BSEE or CS or equivalent required; 4 years experience preferred. TECHNICAL APPLICATIONS CONSULTANT: The job requires a high degree of customer interface solving, and consulting, on the best solutions to system design problems. Systems may range from complex digital computer architectures, to telephony applications to electronic military subsystems with some concentration in digital signal processing. The position requires that the individual become an expert user of SCI's Silicon Development System, Genesil. Writing user oriented applications notes describing unique uses and applications of Genesil will be required. BSEE/MSEE or CS or equivalent is required; 10 years system design/ IC design experience preferred. Direct inquiries to Denny Sabo at the above address (usenet: sci!denny).
