So what's going on with the ideas about net.general? We had a discussion a while back, and now - nothing. The latest list of newsgroups gives the same purpose - "important and timely announcements of interest to all" and the latest batch of postings is the same mishmash of things that should go in net.misc or net.wanted. Get rid of it, change the description, or SOMEthing to bring reality and description in line - please. -- Dick Dunn {hao, ucbvax, allegra}!nbires!rcd (303)444-5710 x3086 ...I'm not cynical - just experienced.

I second (and third) Dick's motion. Of course, he forgot to mention 'unsubscribing' as a possibility, which most of us do already anyway, but there is a difference between unsubscribing a group which has a purpose I am not interested in, and 'net.general', which has a stated purpose which can no longer be served by this group due to it's lack of readership. It's even unfair to the poor neophyte, who'll only get ignored or flamed at. I've seen statements to the effect that net.general has been replaced by net.announce, (and flamed at for 'acting ignorant of that fact') SO, what gives ? And a word of warning to you net-powers. Not doing anything can be a lot more irresponsible than doing something, which turns out to be less than perfect. Werner - fire-retardant, but not flame-proof PS: we might even get some use out of this group again, which tempts me to unsubscribe, lately.
