Julian Davies (the guy who pays some of the bills here) {uwo|deepthot}!julian /* ---------- */ "I'm agin' it." Here's why: 1) It provides an arbitrary "censorship" line - and one that probably won't be right for most sites. If you are really worried about your phone costs, you should first hand off any people you are feeding news to to someone else, then selectively cut out the ones you don't want. 2) Deciding what is/isn't technical is *hard*. Obviously, you want to include net.unix* as technical. What about net.astro-*, or any technical but non-cs group? net.ham-radio (probably the most technical of group I've seen)? net.audio? net.micro*? net.news.group? I think the previously discussed idea of breaking things down by topic would be reasonably: net.sci, net.cs, net.cs.unix* (or maybe just net.unix*), etc. That would solve problem 2, and would allow those who don't want to have to work at deciding what to cut out a much larger selection of partitions, thus alleviating problem 1. <mike
