km@emory.UUCP (Ken Mandelberg) (02/20/85)

                  EMORY UNIVERSITY

Department of Mathematics and Computer Science

Applications are invited for a faculty position in computer science.
It is anticipated that the position will be filled at the assistant
professor level, but an appointment could be made at the associate
professor level (with tenure) for an exceptionally well-qualified
candidate. Requirements are a Ph.D. in Computer Science (or a related
area) with a committment to research in computer science. Applications
in all areas are welcome, but there is special interest in artificial
intelligence, computer architecture, computer graphics, distributed
computing and networking, and operating systems.

The Department possesses a VAX/750 and a PDP 11/44 (running Unix) for
faculty research. The University Computing Center maintains three VAX
780's and an IBM 3033. There are departmental and college microcomputer
laboratories and a campus-wide broadband network is in construction.
External network connection is available by CSNET and USENET.

EMORY UNIVERSITY is located in a suburban residential area adjacent to
Atlanta, a city with many computer related industries. The area provides
the advantages of living in a metropolitan area with few of the
disadvantages. The teaching environment is unusually good and the
students are of high quality. The department has about 100 majors of
which about 80 are in Computer Science. A MS degree is offered in
Computer Science and a PhD in Mathematics.

All applications should include a vita, a publication list, and at least
three letters of reference. These should be submitted to:

            Paul Waltman, Chairman
Department of Mathematics and Computer Science
            Emory University
            Atlanta, GA 30322
