Posting-number: Volume 14, Issue 103 Submitted-by: kirsch@usasoc.soc.mil (David Kirschbaum) Archive-name: unzip-3.1/part00 Sent separately are three shar files that will produce full source, makefiles, brief documentation, etc. for a generic Unix unzip utility. This unzip, produced by the Info-ZIP EMail workgroup, is fully compatible with Phil Katz' MS-DOS PKZIP.EXE file compression and archiving utility. A flexible Makefile provides compilation for a WIDE range of Unix systems. This utility (and project) is not complete: we are currently working on version v3.14 and see no end in sight. A newsletter, INFO-ZIP, is currently used to track the workgroup's progress, discuss problems and directions, distribute diff patches and source, etc. There are no formal archives for Info-ZIP or the workgroup. The most recent fielded version is maintained as UNZIP%%%.ARC and UNZIP%%%.TAR-Z (compressed tar) at SIMTEL20 (the %%% indicates version number). Beta test versions may also be stored at the same location: they'll always have a hundredths version number, such as UNZIP311.ARC. All these files are available via ANONYMOUS FTP from SIMTEL20's PS:<KPETERSEN.ZIP> directory. To contact Info-ZIP for reporting bugs/improvements/additional ports: Usenet people via uucp: uunet!wsmr-simtel20.army.mil!info-zip ARPAnet: Info-ZIP@wsmr-simtel20.army.mil For normal unzip-related messages and discussion, please address them to Info-ZIP and not to me personally. I'm only the coordinator and shall simply redirect your messages to the Info-ZIP mailing list. If it's something personal or a monster mailing (like the Atari uuencoded archive of dif files) you don't wish to inflict on everyone .. ok, send to me and I'll figure out how to distribute, announce, implement, whatever. Regrettably we can NOT support the uunet side of the world with EMailed upgrades, patches, etc. We WILL periodically update the archives when a stable version is fielded. (The comp.sources.misc moderator will be informed.) David Kirschbaum Toad Hall Info-ZIP Coordinator kirsch@usasoc.soc.mil
