HUGHES AIRCRAFT COMPANY Job Descriptions 72-11-20 VLSI SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT MICROELECTRONICS ENGINEERING LABORATORY 800 Apollo St. E51/A210 El Segundo, CA 90245 FAILURE MANAGEMENT RESEARCHER Creative engineers experienced with fault tolerance and built-in test design for complex hardware/software systems. Perform independent research for non-classical faults, novel techniques for long life autonomous missions and VLSI. Apply techniques to highly reliable space and avionic projects. PROCESSOR DESIGNER Provide leadership and technical expertise for research and design of analog and digital processors for ground, avionics, and space applications. Experience with real-time sensor systems required. VLSI background and advanced degree preferred. Two or more years of experience. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE RESEARCH Creative engineers required to build very high performance expert systems. Experience with LISP, expert systems, image processing, and parallel computer architectures desired. MSCS or equivalent. COMPUTER ARCHITECTS Provide leadership and technical expertise for researach and the design of next generation signal and data processors for ground, avionics, and space applications. Knowledge of network architectures, parallel processors, operating systems. Six or more years experience. COMPUTER DESIGNER Work on development teams and research projects for advanced signal and data processing computers. Background should include: computer science fundamentals, software and hardware. VLSI experience preferred. Advanced degree desired. SECTION HEAD, VLSI SYSTEM APPLICATIONS Direct activities and provide technical leadership for system design group. Experience with EO, RADAR, AI, avionics, space, mil-stds, computer design, software development, and supervision. MSEE or MSCS required with 8 years of experience. SR. STAFF ENGINEER Provide technical leadership for system design group. Experience with EO, RADAR, AI, avionics, space, mil-stds, computer design, and/or software development. MSEE or MSCS required with 8 years of experience. All positions require US citizenship, though permanent residents can interview if they are in the process of naturalization.
