TITLE:

	Computer Facilities Manager, Aiken Computation Lab


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

	The Division of Applied Sciences seeks an individual to manage
	its computer facilities.  The manager reports to the Associate
	Dean for Administration and is responsible for the operation of
	the facilities which support both Computer Science research and
	Division of Applied Sciences departmental administration.  The
	facilities currently include: VAX11/780, BB&N C/70, an Apollo
	network, SUN workstations, Data General workstations, Xerox
	lisp machines, and a Ridge.  The manager is responsible for
	coordinating use, backup and maintenance of the facilities and
	is expected to do and to supervise systems programming to
	support the facilities as appropriate.  Works closely with the
	Computer Science faculty to implement their research programs
	and is also responsible for Division of Applied Sciences
	connections to the University Broadband Network.  Supervises
	computer facilities staff which will include an electronics
	technician, and a programming staff as required.


REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

	Broad programming experience which includes knowledge of UNIX
	operating system internals, familiarity with a variety of
	hardware, and a willingness to do "hands-on" work required;
	previous administrative/managerial experience highly
	desirable.

	 
HIRING SALARY RANGE:

	$28,500-$40,000
