The PICS/DCPR System Test Group of Bell Communications
Research, in South Plainfield NJ, invites applications for a
       position on our Technical Staff.

PICS/DCPR refers to a family of large IMS inventory control
systems that run on IBM mainframes. The System Test Group
develops and performs regression tests of these systems
using UNIX* -based tools (on VAX 11/780 level machines) to
simulate terminal sessions. System Test is also responsible
for the tools and the technology base that support the
       testing strategy.

The position will involve developing system tests of
PICS/DCPR and other applications. These tests are
implemented in such a manner that they can be repeated
automatically through locally developed test drivers in
order to verify that new releases of the system perform as
intended. The outputs of these tests consist of the
discrepancies between expected results and actual results.

The tests are coded, primarily, in a locally developed
"script" language processed by UNIX. Statements in this
language describe the PICS/DCPR "on-line" transactions to be
executed and the key results to be compared on successive
runs. Associated with these scripts are complex sequences
of IBM Job Control Language (JCL) that control execution of
the batch portions of the tests and the analysis of the
batch outputs. Heavy use of IBM and locally developed
       utilities is involved.

       Qualifications

o 2 or 4 yr degree in computer science (or in operations
research or accounting with a minor in computer
            science)

o Programming experience on IBM 3081/168 (or equivalent)
            hardware.

o Working knowledge of IBM Job Control Language and
            Utilities.

o Testing experience and UNIX experience are desirable.

Candidates with some combination of the above qualifications
       are encouraged to apply.
