[net.news.group] net.micro.msdos?

rcd@opus.UUCP (Dick Dunn) (09/05/84)

OK, great--someone has suggested net.micro.msdos. Fair enough, but now
we get to see everyone's vote, one vote per article, complete with 600
bytes or so of header each. Information content per posting: about 0.01%.

Is the idea here to bombard the entire net with these silly (and
inconsiderate) voting articles until someone gives in and creates the
newsgroup just to stop the traffic?

How many times does someone have to say that newsgroups are created in
response to a demonstrated need? ("Demonstration" here means substantive
postings, not "gee, I wish" votes.)

And how many times does someone have to say that you don't "vote" (or
otherwise respond to a poll) by doing followups?
