VITESSE ELECTRONICS CORPORATION Vitesse Electronics Corporation was founded in August 1984 to design, develop and manufacture high speed digital processors and gallium arsenide integrated circuit components for both commercial and military applications. Our goal is to be a leading manufacturer of high speed electronics products within six years. Towards that end, Vitesse has succeeded in aacquiring first round financing of $30 million from a major corporation. in January, we took occupancy of our new 60,000 square foot facility in Camarillo, CA, in which we will install a $13 million clean room. What Jobs Are Available? Operating Systems Designers/Implementers: We are looking for several people to help with our O/S effort. Candidates should have experience with the Unix kernel. Familiarity with distributed systems, real-time systems, networking, and/or high speed communications is desirable. Knowledge of other operating system, in particular VAX/VMS, is a plus. LSI/Digital Design Engineers: We are looking for people to design gate arrays and to do general logic design with off-the-shelf components. It is desirable for person to be familiar with CAD work stations (preferably Daisy). It is also desirable for them to have experience with LSI logic. IC Designer: This person will work from rough engineering notes, drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions to create complex electronics designs and layouts. On a project basis, this will include designing, testing, processing, and packaging GaAs and silicon circuits. This person will also be involved in the specification, simulation, and layout of IC's, and after fabrication, the testing packaging, and project engineering of the chips. Computer Systems Administrator: This position will involve supervision of the set-up, operation, and monitoring of a wide variety of computer and data-processing equipment and associated peripherals. Responsibilities will include defining, scoping, ordering, overseeing, and integrating with software engineering the installation and operation of computer networks. Activities will include coordination and supervision of equipment scheduling and operations, production control, maintenance of data libraries, back-ups, teleprocessing, and other similar operations. This person will also train, instruct, and orient users in procedures, operations, and methods. Duties will include programming tasks including design, coding, debugging, and documentation for general applications and system programs.
