University of York Department of Computer Science Lectureship (ref 12/3223) Following Phase One of the recent UGC Shift to Science ini- tiative, a further lectureship is available in the Depart- ment of Computer Science. Applications are invited from candidates who have research experience in any non-numerical area of Computer Science or Engineering, although those with interests in Computer Architecture or Hardware will be par- ticularly welcome. Candidates should normally possess a higher degree in Com- puter Science or Engineering, or be Chartered Engineers, or have equivalent industrial or academic experience. The appointment is available from 1 September 1985 and will be on the salary scale 7,520 to 14,925 Pounds Sterling pa (currently under review) with USS. It is a permanent post. _S_e_n_i_o_r _R_e_s_e_a_r_c_h _A_s_s_o_c_i_a_t_e/_R_e_s_e_a_r_c_h _A_s_s_o_c_i_a_t_e (_r_e_f _1_2/_6_2_0_7) Applications are invited for a research post associated with the Alvey ASPECT IPSE Project which is being carried out by a consortium led by SDL. The post is available at York and will be concerned either with the investigation of distri- buted systems, both host and target, or with database sys- tems supporting the IPSE. The post, which is available immediately, is for three years and will be made on the Grade IB, IA, II or III scales, according to the qualifications and experience of the suc- cessful candidate. The salary will be at an appropriate point within the range 6,600 to 17,705 Pounds Sterling pa (currently under review) with USS.
