ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE/KNOWLEDGE ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST
TRW, a company known for growth and leadership in engineering, advanced
electronics and information data systems and software has an immediate
opening for an experienced AI software developer. This is an excellent
opportunity for the right person to get in on the ground floor of the
company's newly established Systems Division and the division's
IR&D/Technology Facility.
The successful applicant will become the Principal investigator of an
IR&D project applying knowledge engineering to a Navy C-cubed I
application and will lead the follow-on contractual effort. The
prototype AI system is being developed on a Symbolics 3670. The
current major task is the development of an adjustable deduction system
for Naval indications and warning. The follow-on contractual effort
will apply this prototype system to a large Navy C-cubed I system
upgrade.
In addition to proven skills in AI, and experience with LISP software
development, the position requires strong leadership skills and the
ability to work with domain experts and other technologists. The
person selected should be familiar with intelligence support system
applications and be able to support AI business development. An
advanced degree is most definately required. Security clearances are
highly desirable.
TRW's Systems Division utilizes state-of-the-art computing
facilities, and is involved in both R&D and high technology efforts
focusing on advanced software development environments, knowledge
engineering, rapid user interface protyping and advanced workstations.
The capital facility currently employs a VAX 11/780 running Unix 4.2, a
Britton-Lee IDM 600 database machine, Symbolics 3670 LISP machine (with
color system), three Xerox Dandelions, two Sun II workstations, two
Ramtek color graphics systems and hope to purchase a Pyramid computer
sometime next year. Our Symbolics 3670 is networked to the VAX via
Chaosnet (and soon TCP/IP).
