[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] .rev files and gethostbyaddr

weltyc@NIC.NYSER.NET (Christopher A. Welty) (05/26/87)

We are having a small problem with gethostbyaddr... It doesn't
work. Currently most of our stuff is recompiled to work with the host
table, but for obvious reasons we would like to get this fixed.
The problem seems to be in the .rev files for named. We have
quite a few subnets, and had one file for each, and it (gethostbyaddr)
was working fine but the configuration would crash the nameserver...
The documentation I have is of no use. Does anyone have a WORKING set
of .rev files (and the boot file) for multiple subnets that I could see?

This question belongs in the bind@usbarpa.Berkeley.EDU mailing list not TCP/IP,
so any further discussion should be continued their. For subscription
send to bind-request@ucbarpa.berkeley.edu.

The examples in the BIND distribution (anonymous ftp from ucbarpa pub/bind.tar)
are working examples. Also, the examples in "Name Server Operations Guide
for BIND" are working examples. Have you read this document found
in the 4.3BSD System Manager's Manual? You must have missed section 4.1
