[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] tn3270 draft proposal: 3270 graphics

CMSMAINT@BROWNVM.BITNET.UUCP (06/04/87)

I think the best way to support graphics in tn3270 would be to use
3179 vector graphics instead of 3279 programmed symbols. The 3179
data streams are much shorter, and are fairly easy to map to calls to
a graphics package such as QuickDraw on a Macintosh. Also, the host
programs which support the 3179 can adapt to different screen sizes.
I've had some experience with this, having written a Macintosh 3270
emulation program which includes 3179 support.
