We run a small network of miscellaneous machines, mostly Vaxen (VMS and UNIX) but some SUNS, MG1s, Bleasdales etc. We decided sometime ago to standardize on TCP/IP as our networking protocol, and on the Excelan product as the interface on all our Vaxen. On all machines except the two 750s and a microVax II running NUXI (The Instruction Set's version of System V) we have no problems at all. However on these machines we have problems with tcp/ip connections hanging. Excelan don't want to know because we are not running standard System V and the NUXI driver is not supported by them. Inset have fiddled around for several months and say it is something to do with the Excelan firmware. They also say that it is something that occurs with `standard' System V as well, which Excelan will not admit. Has anyone else had this sort of problem with the Excelan product? If so please let me know and perhaps I can beat Excelan round the head with it? Even better, if someone knows what causes the problem or has a fix then please, please let me know. I've just had the final note from Inset saying that they are dropping the problem, and I'm feeling desparate. -- Email: NTitley@axion.bt.co.uk Snail: British Telecom Research labs, Martlesham Heath, Ipswich, Suffolk, UK
