Job available: University of California, Berkeley Computer Facility Manager III for Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Department. Serve as Administrative/Technical Manager of a large academic computing in- stallation. Plan and monitor multi-million dollar recharge and instructional budgets. Manage professional staff of approximately 40 programmers and technicians plus re- lated administrative personnel. Oversee the day-to-day computer facility operations; provide technical analysis for both hardware and software, as- sure coordination with Department staff and faculty as well as campus-wide networking, and assist faculty researchers with planning for new equipment. Candidates must have proven ability to manage a large technical staff, preferably in an academic or institutional setting. Budget/fiscal planning experience sufficient to develop and monitor a multi-million dollar opera- tion essential. Demonstrable technical expertise sufficient to manage all phases of a major computer facility. Must be knowledgeable of technical re- quirements for computer installations. Candidate should offer a broad fami- liarity with UNIX, or other major operating systems and experience with diverse hardware and networking. Graduation from college with a major in computer science, mathematics, or physical sciences, including at least 3 years of progressively responsible and comparable administrative background; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
