If the firmware on the board is the only difference, why not pull the prom from a "good" board, and burn a copy. Perhaps 3Com would be willing to help? At least they should be able to tell you for sure that firmware IS or IS NOT the only difference. (and maybe they'll be willing to mail you a couple of the old proms, or cut some new ones for you, if you lend them one of the "good" boards. This may be some what idealistic, but it should be good business for the manufacturers to support their customers; perhaps especially researchers. I hope 3Com (or a competitor perhaps) comes forward to help you out. Sorry I can't, Bob
