[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] MVS FTP Server Access

NS-DDN@DDN3.ARPA (09/09/87)

Chris, I apologize to you and this conference for terming your proposal an
FTP protocol modification. I was wrong, and you were right regarding the
syntax of the USER and PASS command arguments. Your syntax does make more
sense than using a SITE command, but you may find some user FTPs that are
unable to support it. That's life in the big (Internet) city. I would propose
that ALL MVS software use a consistent access methodology as hammered out
through appropriate facilities, in the spirit of interoperability. Perhaps
an RFC is called for. What do people think?

Best regards,
