[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Guidelines to write Subject

MKG@PSUVM.BITNET (02/09/88)

Will the persons making use of the net please follow the guidelines
below to write subject of their posting which is more intelligent
and reflect some percentage of the contents.

1. If the posting is an enquiry or a question, then at least follow
the subject line with a question mark. ( For those who are not aware
of this, "?" key on the keyboard used for q.m.)

2. If its a humor article and you want more people to read your posting
then you should follow the subject line with a bang !

3. If the posting is supposed to be for serious netters, then I think
just a period (".") is enough.

Please direct any/all comments to mkg@psuvm.BITNET

Enjoy posting intelligently..

Kamal Maheshwari.

hi,
sometimes nice ideas come over the net.
yours has 2 disadvatages:
1.) you forgot to mark your subject -
therefore i suppose a big bang is missing following your own text
2.) most mail-access programs shorten the subject line randomly -
so the marker HAS to be at the beginning of the subject line

Due to the absence of any appropriate terminator on your subject line, I am
not entirely sure how I should treat your comments. Could you please provide
a Bachus-Naur Form description of the subject line syntax you wish to see
implemented? Could you also provide a category for levity?

	kamal,

since your subject neither contained a "?", ".", or "!"
what category does it fall under?

	couldn't resist.... :^)
