	   SDI  NETWORK  INTERFACE  PROCESSING  ELEMENT (SNIPE) POC

Completion:  12 months. Build prototype  pocket-oriented  data  switches  that
interconnect IEEE 802.3 networks via Tl carrier trunk lines using MIL-STD-1777
IP protocol.

These prototypes, called SDI Network Interface Processing  Elements  (SNIPEs),
will  be  evaluated  as the potential design for production units that will be
used to implement SDI net.

This effort will include the hardware and  software  design  as  well  as  the
construction  of  deliverable prototype SNIPEs.  Foreign firms should be aware
that restrictions may be imposed which could preclude their  participation  in
this cont. See Note 11 (however, size standard is changed to 1,000 employees).

Responses  must  reference  Code  B-8-3563-M-2 and include your Commercial and
Govt Entity (CAGE) number.  All responsible firms may submit a proposal  which
