Afternoon All, I happened to receive a inquiry from a customer regarding getting his WANG system talking to his TCP/IP network and the best I could do was hem and haw about what I had read about a month ago. Basically, WANG still had not delivered a solution. Has this changed to any significant degree? Does anyone out there have any real hardware, hands-on experiences they can share(please, no vapor-ware stories. I've seen more than my share of WANG bashing done here.) As always, any input would be truly appreciated! Chris VandenBerg ACC chris@acc-sb-unix.arpa

I have done a bit of checking about the status of Wang's TCP/IP. We
currently have two beta sites: Scott Air FOrce Base (4 months) and the
University of Wisconsin (1 month). THey are running TCP/IP, FTP, SMTP
and in-bound telnet. As I understand it, we are on the tail end of a
normal development cycle, having a small number of minor bugs to be
fixed. If anyone has more questions, Steve Chunn of our Communications
Software Department will be happy to speak with you. 1-800-225-0254 x

I had a meeting with some Wang sales people last week and it still is not
a deliverable product. It is my understanding that some DOD Wang sites
have a working TCP/IP, but it is not yet ready as a product. They pointed
out that no product manager at Wang would announce a product if unable to
ship within 45 days due to past problems with advanced announements.
