Distributed operating system needed- I am working on a project that has as building blocks, Ethernet and TCP/IP. We are now considering a choice of distributed operating systems for peer to peer communication at the application level. The following computers are either on or will soon join our LAN. VAX (VMS), Symbolics, SUN, ENCORE, BUTTERFLY, MAC II. Any of the above is a potential server. 1) One of the considerations is NFS by Sun.
