[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] 64K octet datagrams

brian@wb6rqn.UUCP (Brian Lloyd) (04/21/88)

Sirius Systems' implementation of TCP/IP for the Convergent Technologies
workstations (the product is called Internet-CT) theoretically will
support 64K octet datagrams if you allocate sufficient memory to hold
such a datagram at service installation time (the size of the memory
pool is user configurable when the transport service is installed,
usually at system boot time).

We have never run into a situation where anyone wanted to send a
datagram that big and have never tried to send one that big but there is
nothing in the code to prevent it either.
