[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Public Domain Software for BOOTP

karwowska@xyzzy.UUCP (Joanna Karwowska) (04/29/88)

I would like to get an access to the public domain software
for remote bootstrap protocol - bootp (RFC951).
Can anybody help?

You can anonymous FTP the files 'bootp.client.shar' and
'bootp.server.shar' from the pub directory on safe.stanford.edu. The
client code autoconfigures to find and boot from a couple of different
ether interfaces (3COM/Interlan). The server runs under 4.X BSD UNIX.
A number of vendors are now supporting this boot mechanism.
