[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Discussion group on campus-sized networks.

JMWOBUS@SUVM.ACS.SYR.EDU (John M Wobus) (05/06/88)

This is a reminder that there is an electronic-mail "list" or "discussion
group" dedicated to campus-sized networks. I created it largely because I
saw messages on the TCP-IP list that were really more about campus-sized
networks than about TCP-IP and thought it would be nice to have a place
where we wouldn't feel guilty discussing the stuff. You are welcome to
join this list (which typically has about half the volume of TCP-IP).
See the "blurb" below.

This list is for the discussion of issues in designing and operating
Campus-Size Local Area Networks, especially complex ones utilizing
multiple technologies and supporting multiple protocols. Topics
include repeaters, bridges, routers and gateways; how to incorporate
smaller Personal-Computer type LANs into the campus-wide LAN; how to
unify the mail systems, etc. This is an ideal list in which to debate
the relative merits of bridges vs routers.

All requests to be added to or deleted from this list, problems,
questions, etc., should be sent to BIG-REQ@SUVM.ACS.SYR.EDU (Internet)
or BIG-REQ@SUVM (Bitnet). Those familiar with revised LISTSERV can
subscribe with LISTSERV@SUVM.ACS.SYR.EDU (Internet) or LISTSERV@SUVM
   (Bitnet).

Archives are available through revised LISTSERV.
