[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Wollongong's TCP/IP

M197993%SLVM307.McAuto.Tymnet@OFFICE-1.ARPA (Keith R. Hacke) (05/06/88)

We are planning to purchase Wollongong's TCP/IP implementation for a MicroVAX
running VMS. I am particularly interested in its use for Domain Name Serving
between our Ethernet and the DDN (we have a Milnet connection). VMS is used on
our VAXs, UNIX on the Suns and Silicon Graphics.

What do you think of Wollongong's TCP/IP?

Is anyone using it for Domain Name Serving? With a VAX running VMS?

Other ideas (I know about using a Sun for the Domain Server)?

Thanks

PS Thanks to those who gave info on D. Comer's TCP/IP book. Our company
library is getting it.

The University of Pennsylvania Data Communications and Computing Services
group has chosen WIN/TCP for VMS as the best solution for VMS TCP/IP.

We are not using any of them as Domain Name Servers, but they all work
very well as DNS clients. In fact, the system works better than standard
4.2bsd (many 4.2 TCP/IP problems are fixed).
