[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] DECnet-Internet Gateway

Does anyone have experience with DEC's DECnet-ULTRIX V2.0 product. I
understand it acts as a bidirectional DECnet-Internet gateway. I.E., it
supports DECnet and Internet commands for file transfer, remote login, and
mail.

I have a document from DEC that show examples of using this product. It
"translates" VMS commands into TCP/IP!?

This is very interesting to me because I have a very large community of VMS
users who wish to use the services of the DDN. But they have no TCP/IP
experience. Nor do I wish them to have to buy and learn TCP/IP applications
(SMTP, FTP, TELNET).I need away to route VMSmail and All-In-One mail onto the
DDN, an receive DDN mail back into these DEC mail systems.

If you have experience with DECnet-ULTRIX V2.0 (or later?) I would like to
hear about it. Does it really allow VMS users to access services on the DDN and
vice-versa?

I will summarize and re-post, if response/interest in sufficient.
