[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] rlogin to self with host name not loopback

wingo@ncrcae.Columbia.NCR.COM (Dave Wingo) (06/06/88)

I have a question concerning tcp/ip rlogin and/or telnet. If you are trying
to rlogin/telnet to yourself using your own host name and not the loopback
interface should the traffic generated be kept internal to your host or
must it go out on the net. Is there a standard defining this situation or
is it just an implementation detail.

Thanks in advance.....
