Position:

	Full-time Systems Programmer for the Indiana University Computer
	Science Department in Bloomington, Indiana.

Duties:

	Design, implementation, testing, maintenance, and documentation of
	software.  Provide technical assistance to faculty and other
	researchers.  Supervise part-time programmers who may be assigned
	to help on certain projects.  Assist in feasibility studies.

Position requirements:

A.	Good knowledge of the UNIX operating system.
B.	1 to 2 years Systems programming, preferably in a Berkeley UNIX
	(4.2) environment.
C.	Ability to write in and understand a variety of programming
	languages, especially C.
D.	Familiarity with a variety of large and small computers and their
	operating systems.
E.	Basic understanding of digital electronics.

Technical Environment:

	Mostly UNIX on VAX hardware.  One HP3000/44 running MPE.  Various
	workstations: Apollo (UNIX), HP9836 (UNIX), T.I. NU machine (UNIX),
	Xerox (XDE).  Digital hardware lab with printed circuit fabrication
	facilities.  Also available at Indiana University: VAX (VMS),
	CDC Cyber 855 (NOS), Prime 9955 (PRIMOS), IBM 4381 (MUSIC), DEC 20
	(TOPS-20).

Human environment:

	The environment and facilites at Indiana University make Bloomington,
	Indiana a dynamic place to live.  The University Library ranks in the
	top ten academic libraries in the United States.  The School of Music
	is ranked first among all such schools in the nation.  There is an
	abundance of cultural events both on campus and in the community as
	a whole.  Indiana University is a member of the Big Ten Conference.
	Within a few miles of Bloomington are several thousand acres of state
	forest, wilderness trails, and lakes for swimming, boating, and
	fishing.  Bloomington has a low cost of living.
