The PICS/DCPR System Test Group of the Central Services
Organization, in South Plainfield NJ, invites applications
for a position at the Member of Technical Staff level.
PICS/DCPR refers to a family of large IMS inventory control
systems that run on IBM mainframes. The System Test Group
develops and performs regression tests of these systems
using Unix*-based tools (on VAX 11/780 level machines) to
simulate terminal sessions. System Test is also responsible
for the tools and the technology base that support the
testing strategy.
The position will involve :
- Developing new tools based upon our current testing
language, as well as working on the possible
development of new testing systems/languages. For
example, it is expected that PC hardware and/or
mechanized voice recognition techniques will be useful
in automated testing of new PICS/DCPR products.
- Maintaining and improving our locally developed tools
and testing language. This may involve trouble-shooting
at many levels : within the tools, the testing
language, the communications environment, or Unix
itself.
- Developing tests of PICS/DCPR products. This will
enhance understanding of issues involved in testing,
enabling the applicant to better design/maintain tools.
The ideal candidate will have :
- An advanced degree in Computer Science or Electrical
Engineering.
- Experience with the Unix operating system and the C
programming language.
- Knowledge of current communications hardware/software
protocols and tradeoffs.
- Experience with micro-computers (especially the IBM
PC/3270).
- Some knowledge of IBM/IMS, as well as TSO.
Candidates with some combination of the above qualifications
are encouraged to apply.

SFTW/HDWR TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Celerity Computing has just introduced the C1200, the most power-
ful workstation designed specifically for engineering and
scientific applications. In the Whetstone benchmark, the C1200
executes 2 million single-precision Whetstones per second (twice
the performance of a VAX 11/780). The system is a proprietary
design built around the NCR/32, Unix (4.2 BSD), and Ethernet.
The C1200 is the only workstation combining high performance with
an industry standard software/hardware platform.
The immediate success of our recent product introduction has
created fast track career opportunities in the Technical
Support/Marketing organization. Currently, we have immediate
openings for experienced Customer Support Reps in the following
locations: San Diego (Home Office); Los Angeles; San Francisco/
Bay Area; Boston; Houston; Detroit; and Atlanta. Specific re-
sponibilities include: pre & post sales support (technical
presentations, training, etc.); software/hardware installation,
maintenance, & repair; field liason on software, hardware,
quality, & manufacturing issues; plus related assignments
(graphics/demo program development, program conversions, trade
show support, etc.).
The positions require a minimum of 3 years related experience, a
BSCS/EE or its equivalent, plus the ability to effectively
communicate with all levels of personnel. Previous experience in
the CAD/CAE, graphics, or scientific computer marketplace plus a
working knowledge of Unix are also required.
