The NP100 driver included in 4.3BSD (presumably written by or for Interlan; at any rate, it was not done at Berkeley) is egregiously buggy. A later revision of the driver (done after Berkeley got an NP100) is available from Berkeley, either as part of 4.3BSD-tahoe or separately.
