                     SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER



EdCAAD is a research unit  actively  forging  links  between
knowledge  engineering and computer aided design.  This work
is targeted at non-specialist users  in  application  fields
such  as  architectural  design.   Topics include:  abstract
modelling  systems  for  describing   different   particular
models;  machine  interpretation and integration of informa-
tion presented in text and drawings;  non-prescriptive  ana-
lytic   functions;   hardware  and  software  implementation
environments. The Unit has an excellent UNIX/Prolog/graphics
working  environment, and it enjoys good relations with this
University's  departments  of  Artificial  Intelligence  and
Epistemics.

Applicants are invited to join the Unit as  a  Systems  Pro-
grammer  responsible  for the implementation of an interface
between Prolog and GKS, and to take responsibility  for  the
Units computers, currently a Vax 750, a PDP 11/73 and a Whi-
techapel MG1.  This work is supported by the  SERC  and  the
European  Esprit programme. Salary  will be  within research 
salary scale 1A, with placement according  to qualifications
and experience.
