It is located on the "Big Island" of Hawaii. Computer facilities available at UH Hilo include a VAX 750/VMS, various microcomputers and a to-be-acquired UNIX-based system. Facilities remotely available include IBM 3081, DEC 2060, HP3000, VAXes (at UH Manoa) and (later in 1986) remote access to the San Diego Supercomputer Center. The Division of Computer Science and Engineering is looking for a new faculty member to teach 9 credit hours per semester of introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in operating systems, compiler theory and programming languages as well as conducting research in the individual's area of interest. Minimum qualifications include a doctorate in computer science or closely related field; competence in Pascal, C and assembly language; research potential. Previous college level teaching experience is desirable. Academic rank (assistant or associate professor) and salary commesurate with qualifications and experience.
